Introduction:

Apple Music Voice Plan

Apple Music Voice Plan: Apple Music has discontinued its Voice Plan, its most affordable subscription option, nearly two years after its 2021 launch at $5 per month. The Voice Plan offered a Siri-exclusive experience, requiring users to use voice commands to access Apple Music’s music catalog by requesting songs, genres, albums, or artists.

Apple Music Voice Plan: Formal Announcement

While Apple did not make a formal announcement about the plan’s discontinuation, they did provide the following information on their support page: “Beginning in November, Apple will discontinue the Apple Music Voice plan. We are focused on delivering the best, most robust music experience possible for our customers, with features like immersive Spatial Audio, Apple Music Sing with real-time lyrics, intuitive browse and discovery features, and so much more.”

It was previously reported by 9to5Mac that code references found in the iOS 17.1 beta indicated that Apple had plans to discontinue the Voice Plan.

Although Apple did not specify the reason for discontinuing the plan, it is likely due to its limited appeal. The plan’s restrictions, such as the lack of real-time lyrics and the inability to add songs to a personal library or create custom playlists, may have deterred users. Additionally, the Voice Plan was only available in select countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Austria, Canada, Mexico, China, France, Germany, Spain, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Taiwan.

For those who miss the Siri-only experience, Apple pointed out that all other Apple Music plans, including Individual ($11/month), Student ($6/month), Family ($17/month), and Apple One, allow subscribers to use Siri, including Type to Siri, to play songs, albums, playlists, or radio stations.

As of now, the Voice Plan has been officially removed from Apple’s website, and existing Voice subscribers can continue using the plan until the end of their current billing cycle, with auto-renewal disabled.
