Introduction:

Nothing OS 2.5 Beta: Nothing has just rolled out the highly-anticipated Nothing OS 2.5 for Phone 2 users. This update is packed with exciting new features, including a sleek monochromatic theme, improved Quick Settings, and more. What sets this update apart is its foundation on the latest Android 14 OS. However, it’s crucial to note that this is a beta release, so it’s not the final version.

Nonetheless, for those who’ve signed up for the Open Beta update, it offers an early taste of Android 14 and the additional features introduced in Nothing OS 2.5.

In this update, users can now opt for a stylish monochromatic theme within the basic color settings. A new back gesture has been introduced for interacting with apps, along with an updated Quick Settings layout and the inclusion of Nothing earbuds icons. There’s also a wider range of Lock Screen shortcut options, such as do not disturb, mute, QR scanner, and video camera.

A significant improvement is the ability to adjust ringtone and notification sound volumes separately using the updated volume control interface. Additional regional settings have been integrated as well.

The Nothing OS also receives a set of enhancements, including an updated widget library interface, a new photo widget for showcasing favorite images on the Home and Lock screens, and an upgraded screenshot editor with advanced editing tools. The update also offers a quick deletion option. Nothing has also added the option to hide app icons on the home screen and app drawer, which can be revealed with a simple swipe to the right.

Moreover, a three-finger swipe now facilitates taking screenshots, and users can customize the double-press function of the power button. The update revamps the Home Screen and Lock Screen customization page, providing a comprehensive view of customization options. It introduces a glass filter for wallpapers and solid-color wallpapers for users aiming for a cleaner and more minimalist Home Screen appearance.

How do I get the update?

To get the update, ensure your device is on Nothing OS 2.0.3 and download the Beta file. Install it from downloads, then go to Settings > System > Update to the Beta version, tap ‘Check for the new version,’ and follow the update process. For users encountering intolerable bugs in the beta update, there’s an option to roll back. To do this, download the rollback package for Nothing OS 2.0.3 and head to Settings > System > Update to Beta version, tap ‘Import file,’ and select the downloaded rollback package. Keep in mind that rolling back will result in a factory reset.
