Kawasaki Eliminator 2024: Introduction

Kawasaki Eliminator 2024: Kawasaki is bringing back one of its older designs for the MY2024, the Power Cruiser Tastic Eliminator 400. It also adds an ‘SE’ model to the line, with some minor aesthetic tweaks to set it apart from the base model. This motorcycle aims to provide a sporty riding experience. It offers the ultimate in cruiser comfort, not unlike Harley-Davidson’s new Sportster line.  The relatively small-displacement engine offers manageable, unthreatening power deep in the low-end band with a strong midrange. This is great for blowing away from lights and all nearby cages. The base Eliminator carries over from the original, but the SE pushes custom gear forward and into cafe racer territory.

This model was first launched in 1985 as the 900 Eliminator. It was meant to be a street-oriented drag bike that someone would build in a garage. Production of the original ended in 2007 and the project is on hold to date. Kawasaki announced his second heat for release in Japan at the 2023 Osaka Motorcycle Show, but we’ll see if and when the pair makes it to our side of the world. I don’t know.

Kawasaki Eliminator 2024: Performance and Capability

Power comes from parallel twin engines that are water-cooled for emissions control and durability in hot weather and slow-moving traffic. A 70mm bore and 51.8mm stroke yield displacement of 398cc with a compression ratio of 11.5 to 1. This favors Top Hook Load Champagne so you can forget about using the cheap ones.

The factory uses a downdraft induction system with a high-volume, low-drag airbox designed to improve the engine’s volumetric efficiency without going crazy with turbos or superchargers. Since this is meant to be a “first-time bike,”  the power delivery is friendly with deep torque to pull you out of the hole without the risk of stalling with a poor technique like a new rider. Dual overhead camshafts control four-valve heads. This is the same engine used in the Ninja 400 and Z400, so the Eliminator is stable in good company.

The Eliminator makes 45 horsepower and 26 lb-ft of torque. The top speed is unknown at this time, but the Ninja 400 has a top speed of 116.7 mph, his four-minute mile time is 13.2 seconds, and his 0-60 time is 4.35 seconds. You can expect the same from the Eliminator line. Power flows through his sprocket-driven six-speed gearbox.

Kawasaki Eliminator 2024: Chassis

The Eliminator’s engine may beat like a ninja’s heart, but the frame looks a lot like Honda’s new Rebel line with its exposed elements and trellis construction. The tube completes the structure and suspends the engine as a stressed member for ultimate stiffness. A wide 30-degree rake and his 4.7-inch trail add to the homemade chopper vibe for a cruiser-like ride and stability at high speeds. The suspension is up in the air, but I would expect it to be basic vanilla and the only tweaks would be the preload adjustment on the rear shock. A single 310mm disc and 2-piston caliper slow down the front wheels, and what appears to be a 240mm disc and another 2-piston caliper slows down the rear wheels. Cast wheels mount a 130/70 in front of the 150/80 and are 18″ front and 16″ rear to add to the overall cruiser look.

Kawasaki Eliminator 2024: Price and availability

The Kawasaki Eliminator is priced at 759,000 Yen (estimate: $5,732). If you want this SE model, you can bump the price up to ¥858,000 (estimate: $6,480). As these are price conversions,  the amounts may not reflect the actual price once this currency pair enters the North American market.

What is the top speed of the Kawasaki Eliminator 2023?

The Eliminator 125’s 124cc single-cylinder
the engine has a top speed of 100 km/h (62 MPH).

Is Kawasaki Eliminator 2023 a good bike?

The overall rating of the Kawasaki Eliminator is 4.5 out of 5.
